Rare stoneware vase from Egypt, made by Suzanne Wissa Wassef (b. 1950), the eldest daughter of renowned architect and artist Ramses Wissa Wassef. She took over the role as director and curator of the Wissa Wassef Art Center in Harrania, Egypt after her father passed away in 1974. The story of the Art Center is as beautiful and pure as this vase. It was Ramses wish to have a place where traditional Egyptian arts and crafts would continue to thrive, and Suzanne has since then carried on his legacy by producing high end Egyptian tapestry art, and also a small number of ceramics.
The vase was probably made in the 1980s/90s. It's made of stoneware with a lovely glaze of green with blue decor elements. The condition is excellent, almost as new. A lovely piece of art pottery that will only increase in value, and probably the only one of it's kind you will ever see.
