Elegant pewter tray featuring engraved botanical and animal motifs. Designed by Nils Fougstedt for Svenskt Tenn, the renowned Stockholm interior design house he co-founded with Estrid Ericson in 1924.
This piece exemplifies Fougstedt's signature style with richly detailed yet restrained ornamentation that reflects the neoclassical approach of the Swedish Grace movement.
Marked on the reverse with the manufacturer's stamp and "E8" dating code, confirming 1931 production.

Nils Fougstedt was a Swedish sculptor and craftsman, renowned for his pewter work featuring intricate engravings. As co-founder of Svenskt Tenn Fougstedt played a pivotal role in Swedish design history. His artistic journey began with the Swedish Grace style of the 1920s before evolving toward functionalist principles. Early works from his career, particularly from the 1920s and 1930s, are today highly collectable. His pieces are held in the collection of Nationalmuseum, Stockholm.
