Table Lamp, 1928

A rare table lamp, model 6931, produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Stockholm, first documented in the company's catalogue from 1928. The stem tapers elegantly in lacquered wood with oxidised brass fittings, raised on a circular brass base decorated with stamped star motifs and resting on three small feet. A quintessential example of Swedish Grace. Designed under the watch of artistic director Harald Notini, who during his tenure drove the company's design office forward, producing what were considered at the time to be ground-breaking and distinctive fixtures.

Paired with a new white linen shade.

Condition
In fine vintage condition. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use, with a warm patina to the metal parts.

About the Maker
Böhlmarks Lighting Factory was founded in Stockholm in 1872 by Arvid Böhlmark. Starting out as a manufacturer of gas and kerosene lamps, the company played a central role in transitioning Swedish homes and public spaces to electric lighting. During the early 20th century Böhlmarks became one of Scandinavia's most respected lighting manufacturers, collaborating with leading architects and designers of the day including Gunnar Asplund and Harald Notini. Their pieces, ranging from chandeliers and pendants to wall sconces, were known for combining superior craftsmanship with the prevailing design currents of the time, from Art Nouveau through Swedish Grace and into Scandinavian Modern. Though the company ceased operations in the mid-20th century, Böhlmarks pieces remain highly sought after.
