More on the Artist
Jerk Werkmäster (1891–1965) was born in Rättvik, Dalarna, and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. A true multi-talent — painter, printmaker, and ceramicist. He served as artistic director at Nittsjö ceramics factory for over thirty years, and also designed for Arvid Böhlmarks lamp factory.

His work draws on the naive forms of traditional Dalarna painting, softened with a modern palette and traces of Eastern influence. Works by Werkmäster are held in the collections of Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet, among others.
