A pair of modernist works from the 1920s–30s, attributed to Swedish artist Brita Nordencreutz. Executed in watercolour and pencil on paper, each depicts two figures in dynamic poses against loosely rendered landscape backgrounds. The linework is confident and expressive, lending the works a sketch-like quality, while the paper ground is left exposed throughout as a third tone.

Brita Nordencreutz (1899–1982) was a Swedish painter who trained in Stockholm before studying in Paris. including under the Cubist painter André Lhote, and later in Munich. Known for her bold figurative works and colourful landscapes, she exhibited widely in Sweden and Paris throughout her career.
